General Information:
Our textbook for this year is “Environmental Science: Earth as a Living Planet”, by Daniel Botkin and Edward Keller. We will use the 5th edition, published in 2005. Daniel Botkin is President of the Center for the Study of the Environment and Professor Emeritus of Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Edward Keller is Professor of Geological Sciences, also at UC Santa Barbara.
Their textbook includes case studies, learning objectives, closer look sections, critical thinking issues, as well as review sections and study questions. All students are expected to read the chapter material and make outlines to each chapter prior to the discussion in class scheduled on your class syllabus.
Recovery Options:
Test Correction process: To receive credit back for points missed on a Unit test you must 1) Provide an appropriate reason why the correct answer was the best answer for the question asked and 2) Provide an explanation why the answer you chose was not the best answer. This can be completed at home or during SMART lunch and should be returned before the next unit test.
All assignments other than tests can be corrected for full credit as long as they are submitted before the end of the quarter.
